NameGender for n8n

A community node with three resources: Gender for names, email addresses and usernames, Salutation for ready greetings in ten languages, and Name Check to flag junk entries in forms. It works in any workflow and as a tool for n8n’s AI agents.

100 free credits every day. No card.

Install the node

On a self-hosted n8n, open Settings → Community Nodes, choose Install and enter n8n-nodes-namegender. Then add a NameGender credential with an API key from the NameGender dashboard. The credential is tested with a call that costs no credit.

The package is published on npm and has passed n8n’s security scan; it is in review for n8n’s verified nodes, which is what makes a community node installable on n8n Cloud.

Three resources

Gender has four operations: from a name, from an email address, from a username, and the countries a name is recorded in. Each returns gender, probability, sample size, source and the parsed first and last name. Additional Fields take a country code and best guess.

Salutation has two operations, from a name and from an email address, and returns formal, informal and neutral greetings, with options for language, country, a gender you already know, an academic title and the minimum probability for a gendered form. Name Check returns plausible, suspicious or implausible, a score and the signals behind it.

n8n runs a node once for every incoming item, so a list of 500 contacts is 500 requests and 500 credits; there is no separate bulk operation to learn.

IF nodes and AI agents

An empty gender is a successful answer for an unknown name, a company or a role address. Route it with an IF node instead of treating it as an error, and read probability together with sample size before trusting a result.

The node is usable as a tool, so an AI agent in n8n can call it when a prompt needs a gender, a greeting or a check on a name. Workflows built before the resources were added keep working: Gender is the default resource.

Questions

Can I use it on n8n Cloud?

Once n8n verifies the node. Until then it installs on self-hosted n8n through Settings → Community Nodes.

Is there a bulk operation?

No. n8n already runs the node once per item. For very large backlogs, a file job in the NameGender dashboard is cheaper.

Does an unknown name cost a credit?

Yes. Every item costs one credit, including unknown names and role addresses.
