Connect the app
Open the invitation link while signed in to Make and install the app into your organisation. Add any NameGender module to a scenario, create a connection and paste an API key from the NameGender dashboard. The connection is checked with a call that costs no credit, and the key is removed from Make’s logs.
The app is waiting for review for Make’s public app directory. Until then the invitation link is the way in; nothing about the modules changes when the listing goes public.
The modules
Get Gender from a Name, from an Email Address and from a Username return gender, probability, sample size, source and the parsed first and last name. Get a Salutation takes a name or an email address and returns formal, informal and neutral greetings such as “Gentile Sig.ra Rossi,” with the reason when the neutral form was used. Check a Name returns plausible, suspicious or implausible, a score and an array of signals you can map into a router.
Make an API Call reaches every other endpoint with your connection already applied. Use it for the bulk endpoints when a scenario handles lists: one call resolves up to 100 names and returns them in the order sent.
Routers, unknown names and operations
Put a router after a gender module and give empty genders their own route. An empty gender is a successful answer for an unknown name, a company or a role address such as sales@, and it should not overwrite a value you already have.
Each module run is one Make operation and one NameGender credit, unknown results included. For a large backlog, export it, run it as a file job in the NameGender dashboard and import the result; keep the scenario for new records.

Does it work on Make’s free plan?
Yes. The modules run on any Make plan; each run counts as one operation.
Is NameGender in Make’s public app directory?
It is in review. Until it is approved, install it with the invitation link; the modules are the same.
How do I process a list in one call?
